He said that up to now, China Telecom and China Unicom have built the world's largest shared network. At the same time, he pointed out that although my country has achieved tremendous progress in 5G development, the number of domestic 5G base stations has exceeded 700,000, and the number of 5G package users has exceeded 320 million. However, the overall development of 5G is still in its infancy, and it still requires the joint efforts of the industry to fully meet user needs.
He analyzed that in terms of networks, 5G technical standards are still evolving, and the equipment supporting R16 needs to be mature; in terms of terminals, terminals need to accelerate the support of SA upgrade and opening, and the process of SA module industrialization urgently needs to be accelerated; in terms of applications, Personal application scenarios are not rich enough, and industrial Internet applications are in an exploratory period; in terms of operations, network operating costs increase, and customers have higher requirements for operating services.
Ke Ruiwen said in his speech that the theme of this MWC Shanghai conference is "Harmony and Symbiosis", which is the key to solving these problems. This concept is consistent with China Telecom's thinking. He said, “The development of 5G alone will not work and requires the full cooperation of the entire industry.” In response to this, he proposed three initiatives:
