Wave Spectrum for 5G Use
November 18, 2017
MIIT released an announcement of deploying IMT-2020 in the millimeter-wave band recently, open for comment.
5G system is a vital information infrastructure for the implementation of "Broadband China" strategy and "Internet+" plan, MIIT noted. The frequency planning plays an important guiding role in 5G system technology development and application, and the millimeter-wave band will be the focused band for 5G system. Thus, MIIT solicit opinions on the 5G system deployments in 24.75-27.5GHz, 37-42.5GHz or other millimeter-wave bands.
China has made huge progress in 5G these two years and MIIT has improved the 5G frequency planning - it confirmed the 3300-3600MHz and 4800-5000MHz as the initially-deployed 5G bands not long ago.
China will conduct the second-phase 5G network test this year and, according to the planning of IMT-2020(5G), carry out large-scale networking tests in 2018 and start 5G network construction based on the former, which is to say, 5G network will be launched in 2020 at the earliest.
